Weekend in Pittsburgh

We spent this past weekend in Pittsburgh.  I had never been there before and it had been a while since Eric had been to the area.  We stayed on the South Side and were convenient to most of the places we wanted to visit.  Our first stop Friday afternoon was Station Square.  We went to Bar Louie based on a recommendation of one of our friends and had lunch and a couple cocktails. The bruschetta that we had was huge and the cocktails were really good.  Mine was called a Mason/Dixon and was made with sweet tea vodka. Eric's was called Elliot's Pepper. It was gin and red pepper and was by far the best.

Then we rode the Monongahela Incline to the top of Mount Washington so we could check out the view of the city.

That night we checked out Carson Street and some of the local bars.  Then Saturday we walked Carson Street again where we saw this little guy at a local barber shop.
The rest of the day was spent at PNC Park watching the Pirates play the Nats.  The Nationals pulled off a 5-4 victory over the Pirates and it was a really good game.  Eric had a Primanti Brothers sandwich which he had been looking forward to ever since we planned our trip.  If you know anything about Primanti Brothers they are famous for putting the french fries on the sandwich as seen below.

Sunday morning we headed home.  We stopped briefly in Jeanette for breakfast with some of Eric's family and we made it home in time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with friends at Panchos.  Unbeknownst to me it was also an early birthday celebration for me and I was sneak attacked with the sombrero.
